Saorview question

I am not really into my tech side of telvision but I just have a question so bare with me. I had a lad out at the house one day, asking him to put up an aerial to get channels rte1, 2, TV3 and TG4. I was going to get a saorview box at a later date.

I got rid of sky a few months previous and I still received all the freeview channels in the UK bar the Irish ones, hence the reason I got the aerial for irish television.

So now I want to get the saorview box. The man who put up the aerial, put the cable from the aerial into the sky box and then put another aerial cable from the sky box to the television. I get Rte1, 2 tv3 and TG4 fine, but its not digital obviously.. So my question being, can i put the aerial cable from the sky box to to my saorview box after I take it out of the back of the tv and more importantly will I recieve the saorview service.

I am just concerned as the sky box is involved.

Sorry for my lack of terminology :)

    Yes.

The aerial cable into the Sky receiver is a loop through which allows the channels on the Sky receiver to piggyback on the aerial cable (RF). If the Sky box is already connected to the TV via scart and not feeding any other TVs in the house via that output you can connect the aerial cable directly to the Saorview receiver.

If you continue to loop it through the Sky box you might have to check/change the RF output frequency/channel of the Sky box that it doesn't conflict with the Saorview frequency/channel in your area.

    Thanks for the reply.

There is a cable going from the back of the sky box into a tv in another room. The TV in the other room has rte1, 2, tv3 and TG4 and on channel 5, it is connected to sky (the sky freeview channels when watched ,show the same things on both tvs, but the irish ones can be watched seperate)

    Is that an issue then?.

I assume the second TV is connected to RF2 at the rear of the Sky box, no problem.

In that case connect the RF1 output to the Saorview receiver co-ax input and if there is no conflict with the RF1 output frequency/channel from the Sky box all should be well.

If your terrrestrial analogue channel reception is OK the Saorview signal should loop through without problem.
