    Anyone got any recommendations as to what to do or see or taste in Krakow aside from Auschwitz?

    Iv always loved learning about the various landmarks and the history of them in the counties they are from, so what about the Wawel Cathedral or the Royal Castle?

    There is plenty to see and do in Krakow! Lots of landmarks, museums, good restaurants, great nightlife and all contained in the central area.

    Suggest getting used to strong beer/vodka before heading over. Most Polish beers are 5.5%+ :D

    Park Wodny when you want to blow the cobwebs or the 5.5% beer away - saunas and all sorts for very reasonable prices.

    The Underground tour in the Rynek is pretty interesting I think.

    If you are going to Auschwitz, try get there before 9.30 or so to avoid the bus tours.

    Kracow is great!

    There is a fantastic bar on the edge of the old city centre. Do a lap (just follow the park which is in a ring around the city - it only takes about 15 minutes in total) and you will see the bar. You can't miss it - it has a large outside area which is covered (sides and top) by thick plastic.

    Salt mines were quite good, though it may depend a bit on the guide you get - ours was good, but a friend went and was less impressed.

    Beer is cheap, decent, and fairly strong. Our first night there was a Wednesday, got in late, headed out about 11 after dinner for a couple of quiet beers, thinking being Wednesday we'd be back early.
    Ended up leaving the last bar at 2ish, then wandered past a 4/8 place - open all night, serves glasses of beer for 4 zloty, cooked snacks (decent size lasagne, pies, etc) for 8 zloty - that's €1 beers. Got back to the hotel about 5am. There's a few of them around, one's oppostie the Irish pub on embassy row.

    There's some nice bars and restaurants around the main square. A lot of the buildings lead through into large open courtyards with bars, Buddha Bar on the top right of the main square was nice (think it's #7 or so). All the food we had there was good, the bill here came to about €30 for 2 for top quality food.

    Oh and keep an eye out for this guy in the main square;

    We got a tour from the hotel, was only about 30 minutes outside the city.

    There's a train station in the town with the mine, though it might be a bit of a walk away, so if you were doing it yourself might be a bit more awkward alright.

    We're looking to do a city break around March next year. We were thinking of going here. Would it be still full of snow around start of March?
