    Hi

Can an LNB just stop working?

Tonight during Emmerdale, just like a switch being thrown, picture goes.

    Message no or poor signal.

It is a quad LNB feeding 3 receivers and allgone, so presume it is LNB.

I know it is windy at present, but, as I said,it was like someone just turned a switch off.

I imagine if dish shifted I would have got picture fade, break-up.

So is it possible to just have one "GO"?

    Cheers.

    TC

Did you go out & look at it to make sure it's not just being obstructed by some windborne debris?

    Good thought Peter.

Had a look, but unfortunately not as simple as that.

Someone else suggested a power supply issue to LNB, but as I am feeding 3 boxes from a quad LNB and not sure of how that works from a power point of view, but I would have thought that one of them should work as I imagine all 3 send power to it????????

Any other ideas welcome, as my wife can't watch BB, I need to fix tomorrow......

The wind did'nt move the dish by any chance? Even a centimeter would be huge in dish movement terms.

What about lightning? Wouldn't have to be a direct strike.

Having the same problem here in Co. Wicklow. I think the dish has been moved or is loose somehow as we are having intermittent transmission to our dish. Don't think it's a power issue as we've had this set up for the last 10 years.

I take it that all replies have good transmission so it's a localised problem for a householder...

    All sorted.

Got out to-day and checked dish with compass, a few degrees off course.

It is mounted on a swan neck bracket and it twisted.

All back to normal now, thanks for all the input.

Lesson learnt, check the easy things first and don't think the worst.

Triax and bits arrived to-day, so I am sure I will be on again for info.

    Cheers

So your picture went completely? Ours is going in and out although it's only done it once this morning...

    Yeah, went completely.

Dish shifted about 5 degrees, in a gust, I guess.

I would check yours though, in case it might have moved a bit and weakened signal, and as it shakes in wind it comes a goes.

Not sure if this is possible, but it is worth a look with a compass if you have one.

Look up http://www.dishpointer.com/ , put in your address and it will give you exact direction of satellite.

Hope yours is a easy to fix as mine was.

    Cheers.
