    Hey Folks,

What are your opinions on Howth Golf CLub? Im playing it soon for the first time. If I enjoy the course I will be playing another couple of rounds there with a view to possibly joining.

Look forward to hearing your views!

    Hi Quandary,

I re-joined Howth last year (left as a juvenile) and have to say I have loved the place. Very friendly membership and a good range of competitions. The online timesheet allows you to hook up with other members in competitions easily. The Thursday night 12 hole fourball is a great way to meet members with a very casual social atmosphere. The Winter League is also a great way to get involved in the club. Very competitive main competitions during the year and some good inter-club teams (They won the Uden Cup last year).

The course is in great condition at the moment and if you can get yourself around the course without the hills bothering you then you will love the views and the test of golf. There is a 77 year old member playing off mid single figures who still carries his bag so there are no excuses! Its a decent test off the white tees, especially in a windy southerly like we have had recently.

PM me if you would like to meet at the club and play a few holes or chat further.

    Dave Quinn

Stunning views on a clear day....

Too many blind shots and crossing fairways for my liking but it certainly isn't boring. If you're playing with a member you should enjoy it, if not then be careful out there!

As for the club, I played out there in inter club comp a couple of years ago and they were a great bunch of lads.

Convenient every post you've made concerns Howth Golf Club. Nice independent review!

Hey guys, thanks for the replies.

I had booked a round there tomorrow morning but had to cancel due to work but ill be playing there very soon hopefully. As long as the course doesn't have more blind shots than Corballis I should enjoy it :)

Im just getting into golf properly in the last 2 months really so have a long way to go yet. Saying that though, I had my best round of the year in Elm Green last week - shot 90! Had 6 pars on the back 9 after a dodgy front 9 :).

Im getting the bug now and wouldn't mind joining a course that is playable throughout the wettest winter!

Hi f22, you will probably notice he didn't ask for an independent review ;) I put my name to the post, I'm a proud member of Howth and not pretending otherwise and just making Quandary feel welcome if he does decide to join up :)

As for the latest membership fee, I think the information is on the membership subs thread. They are offering 15 months for the price of 12 at the moment at around €1450 I think, which includes bar levy of 100.

    Hi Quinda,
Got flier in the door yesterday on this. Looks like a great deal, if Howth ticks all the other boxes for what people are looking for.
The flier mentions a special "Husband & Wife" membership offer - can you give some more info. on this, please?

Sorry Golfwallah, I saw the same flyer but don't know much about the Husband and Wife offer.

Doesn't take much thinking to notice every post someone makes promoting something does it? Others do a little promotion too but at least they actively contribute to the forum aswell.

    What a view.

But I'm a bit soft and winter is bleak and wild up there.

If your only starting , I would not be in a rush to join.

Just me. Too much value and choice. Try more courses first. Not that there is a problem with Howth - just take your time.

But don't listen to me , I've been waiting 10 years, price , time , place. The time is now.
