    Main points

BBC2 daytime schedule to be scrapped and replaced with "premium" repeats and news.
BBC1 will host all new daytime shows.
BBC3 and 4 to be refocused to support BBC1 and 2
BBC radio budgets cut except for BBC4 (FM), BBC4 LW investment to end. :(
    Red Button services scaled down

    Plenty of detail missing,

The main impact for viewers here is the proposed axing of the BBC HD channel with a BBC 2 HD service. Sky subscribers to lose BBC HD - replaced by BBC 1 or 2 HD?

From Mike 65's article what exactly does this mean?
, and digital channels BBC Three and Four will become feeder channels for BBC One and Two respectively.

the full article and its links within make me think a BBC TV channel should have been shut down rather than dumb down all of them.

i see the proms and other what many would see as highbrow will be untouched,i have no problem with that but it does seem to indicate that many of the cuts are to please for want of a better term the Tories or snobs who watch these shows because it is a very bad thing in their circles to admit they don't like them.

why not sell off Eastenders and other soaps if they want to be a highbrow Public Service Broadcaster?
boring but politicly correct as in French PSB's,bad day for BBC IMO.

Feeder channel is odd as it suggests making programmes for 3 & 4 but then screening them on 1 & 2 as standard practice. Which means why bother showing them on 3 & 4.

    Choice of schedule.

Good to see them axing daytime BBC 2 and keeping BBC 4.

BBC 3 will need to stop being the young adult TV station if it is to feed into BBC 1.

Very relieved to see BBC 6 Music has been spared the chop, it's a first class radio station.

Who cares? BBC/ITV are now a moot point in the Digital world. I rarely watch them anymore. And that recent programme where ITV 'substituted' computer game footage for an 'IRA helicopter attack' made me lose any respect I had for them.

I do for one (the BBC) I agree with you on ITV - a once great example of a regional TV model, now one of many pap digital TV channels.

Whats the point in more news on BBC1/2/3/4 when theres news 24 ?

Surely after ASO anything (other than regional) news on these channels becomes redundant ?

BBC 1NI has been replaced by BBC 1HD today on the SKY EPG. No more using other channels to get that channel now. Going on this, I'd say when BBC 2HD launches we'll get it on SKY too.

They've been switched rather than replaced, i.e. BBC 1 HD is on 141 and BBC 1 NI is on 234.

Ah cool, hadn't noticed that. Cheers!
