So, after a lot of madness and freebies clubs and socs days are over. Who did you join?

    Who had the best stand?

Don't forget, if you want to join a club or society you can always head up to the clubs and socs offices upstairs in the Hub and they'll look after your registration.

I am sure it was mentioned but the Law aspect has a brand new committee with delegated power, so there will be a lot more Law events this year :)

I joined Debate and Law, FLAC, Hiking and the Sinn Féin Cumann.

Just on the Debate and Law soc, I was in it last year and the debating side of it is decent craic too, not least because there is free beer, or wine for the posh folk, after the inter college debates.

When do Debate and Law have their debates do you know?

Snowsports, they had their first meet up this weekend and I missed it, raging. I'll have to make to check my emails more often!

I joined Music, Art, MPS and Book. Already it looks like I'll mainly be involved with Art and Book mostly but who knows! It's a bit silly how most socs have their EGMs at the same time on the same night, so if you join more than one you can't go. I'm first year rep For ArtSoc anyway so I'm happy to be getting involved a bit :D

Last year they had weekly or so meetings were there would be "in house" debates between members, then 1 or 2 inter University debates per semester, can't remember the exact number I only made 1 of them myself.

Remember lads you can still join clubs and socs even if you missed them at the clubs and socs days. Just drop them an email or just show up at a meeting and ask to join, I'm sure they would be delighted to have you.

Is there a hiking soc? I went looking for it last year and was told that it had fallen away.

There is indeed. If you go to the Clubs and Socs offices they'll be able to sign you up.

Cheers Attol, see you on a hill top in a rain jacket (also with trousers, I hope)

Yeah, the table was directly across from the entrance to the nubar.

I missed clubs and socs days this year. Does anyone know if the contact emails on http://www.dcu.ie/students/clubs.php3?sc_type=club are up to date? I'd hate to bother the wrong people if they aren't.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 717 ✭✭✭Noodleworm

I don't think they fully are, as tons of clubs and society have websites and emails that aren't on there.
Though that list is just clubs, societies are the other one. I reckon if you google a few you'd fine their websites and contact details.
Though in order to join, you only have to go to the clubs and socs office and tell that what you want to join.

House meetings are at 6:30 every Tuesday :) There's a DCU Debate & Law group on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/68526712843/ which you can join if you'd like to keep up to date with events.

smooshmonster : Head up to the clubs and socs office. There's a leaflet with the contact information of all clubs and socs on it. I think it's more up to date than the site.

Thanks! I will do that on Monday. Is that on the second floor of the hub?

    It is.

Also, I finished in DCU in 2008 and I am so jealous of you guys! It'll be the times of your lives.

    :) Enjoy every second!
