I'm visiting Berlin in a week.
Does anybody have any suggestions for good Bars/Clubs? I like the d'old disco dancin' :p but I'd also like the see what makes Berlin unique (if it is).

I love Berlin. Was there 2 years ago for the first time and heading again next month. They have a great scene! Schoneberg is a good neighbourhood with about 15 bars/clubs in the vicinity. Motzstraße is the main strip in this area with a lot of bars in the neighbouring streets also. See link below giving details. My favourite bars were Prinznecht and Blond. http://berlin.gaycities.com/bars/nid/9102/

At the weekends, a lot of the more "underground" bars only get really going after 2am so places that are deserted at midnight are heaving at 3am

Berlin is a liberal open city so most bars and clubs are gay friendly so you don't have to confine yourself to this area. The city itself has a lot of beautiful parks and historic architecture that survived the World Wars which I didn't expect. Enjoy!

Just to reiterate again how great Berlin is! It's 10 years since I was last there properly. I lived there for a whole summer and had an amazing time. I'd say it has changed a lot since, but back then it (especially the districts of Prenzlauer-Berg, Friedrichshain and Mitte) had an interesting arty and counter-cultural vibe that was very refreshing while Ireland, at that time, was going through its brand-obsessed, conspicuous consumption, Septic Tiger phase.
Berlin has an excellent public transport system, so getting around is a doddle. Cycling is also popular there. It's a very safe city and it has lovely parks and lakes where you can relax if the weather is nice.
As for the gay scene, I wouldn't really be into the leather fetish myself, which seemed big in Berlin then, but apart from that it seemed like a city that has a fun and laid-back nightlife and is a city that would be easy to live in if you're LGBT.
If you like your nightlife, really great lager and 20th century history, you'll be heaven in Berlin!

    Just to whet your appetite!
