Thsi thread was posted a few years back:

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055388132

However no reply was ever given, according to a governement wreck publication I have the above wreck should only be around 230 M from the shore, however has anyone ever dived this wreck from the shore, or as a matter of fact dived it from a boat and seen any access from shore. I have the co-ordinates of it but before I head out I'd like to see if anyone here has ever dived it???

The sewage outlet was shut off a year or two ago, so it should be a lot clearer these days. It may on rare occasions be used under overflow conditions ie. usually rain runoff.

Well I have the Irish Shipwreck Inventory and acording to it there is only the boilers and the engine blovk along with some more metal left of it.

But I am just wondering if it can be dived from the shore, or boat only, it is well within swimming distance, but its been a while since I have been down that way so I can't picture and ways down to the water, but I have overheard people that have shore dived it.

There is the remains of a small landing 50m to the NNE of the Baily Lighthouse, but you very likely need permission and I wouldn't fancy hauling gear up and down. There are other little beaches nearby, but all over 500m from the lighthouse and again a good 200 feet up and down, with tricky paths. All unwise imo.

That kind of a reply only makes me want to do it more, where theres a will theres a way. I'll find a way to lug equipment up and down if its possible.

Thans for the heads up on the small landing etc., I am going to go check them out tomorrow.

Of course the wreck is protected under the monuments act, so I have applied for a licence to dive it, has anyone on here ever went and applied for a licence to dive a protected wreck before??? How did you get on???
