Is it ok to back-date the weaning dates for calves by 7-10 days, ie input a weaning date tonight for 26 sept? Meal intro date is 26 august.

If you are doing it online through icbf you can bacdate dehorning, meal feeding, weaning etc if you wish to.

Are you sure? You can backdate dehorning & weaning, but you have to inform them within 7 days of starting meal feeding - the system will allow you to backdate it, but you will be penalised. (Unless things have changed since 2010)

I always filled up ours when we were weaning and we never got penalised so I cant tell you any more. They never query'd it and we always got the 42 yoyo's a calf.

I used Oct 1st as weaning date, plan to sell them on Oct 18th. From what i have seen and heard in marts some farmers are either not feeding meal, or selling calves straight off cows and still claiming the money. Has anyone heard of a case where a farmer was penalised because the buyer of his calves complained that they werent properly weaned? In my local mart the display doesnt inform buyers if the seller is in the scheme.
