I see several dealerships offering 11D Rios with delivery miles only for less than 12k. This is supposedly a special scrappage offer on vehicles of eight years and older. Any thoughts on whether this would be a good deal? (Two car family, with two toddlers). Thanks!

Want rid of the old model and making room for the new model.

For the money... haggle your way into an 11 plate Hyundai i20, a far better car.

The old Rio will plummet in value once the lovely new model is out next week.

A discounted 2011 Kia Rio in my view does not constitute a bargain! A bargain is when you get a lot of car for a discounted price – good build quality, solidity, high spec, quality materials etc....Rio is an inexpensive car with inexpensive quality’s – I don’t think it’s such a good deal! -

I agree with the last few posters op , that may seem like lot of car for the cash, but the put it bluntly , the old shape Rio is an absolt ute heap of ****e , it might compare with a European car from the nineties IMHO . Please , avoid at all costs

    Don't listen to these "SNOBS":(

Whatever new car you get, new model Kia, or the Hyundai i20 as proposed by another poster, will be worth VERY, VERY significantly LESS than you pay for it, once you drive it out of the forecourt.

If the purpose of the car you are considering buying, is a support car in a two car family, and you can get the old Rio at a very good price, you should really consider it as a good economic option.
You could spend several thousand more yoyo's on the new model, or the Hyundai, only to have it wiped off your balance sheet once you hit the road.
The old Rio, is reliable. You are not likely to have problems.

As Tora Bora correctly identifies, this would be a "support" car in a two car family, with cost, reliability and 7 year warranty appealing factors.
But thanks to all for your thoughts.

I understand "the real world" too mate - I have 2 four year olds and run a family motor and a runabout.

The RIO makes sense on paper.. but I think an i20 with 5yr warranty would be a better overall experience for the same money.

the new Rio looks like it will shake up that segment

any reason why they dont plan releasing the 1.1 diesel here?

Because the other diesel is already in band a here and demand will be higher in the uk where it is tax and congestion charge free I believe

ijust had a 2011 kia rio (old model) rental from hertz. 9000miles on it at the time of hire.

    i couldn't get over a 2011 had
    no central locking,
    no alarm,
    no electric windows.

was not the nicest things to drive, the key looked the same as one from a 90's huyundai:pac:

The old Rio is no great shakes to drive but they can be kitted out fairly well, if the spec and the price were good you should be happy enough.

The new Rio is a great car with lots going for it, it will make the old Rio look like a grandfather clock.
There will be lots of deals coming in 2012, I'd hang out for the right one.
