    Hi there,
I took a series a photographs at night time, all of them were in RAW - NEF files, I use a Nikon D5000. Most of them are fine but there are a certain number of them If I look at them in Adobe Bridge have problems. The ones that are fine show up with a thumbnail and all of the metadata is detailed below. The ones that are not alright, I get no thumbnail view and the metadata just gives me the file properties. They won't open in Bridge or in Photoshop. Is there anyway of repairing these files? Can I copy the Metadata from one to the other? I don't understand why it happened to be honest, I never changed any of the settings on the camera. I did view the photos straight off the card on a Tablet PC using a Raw viewer app. Could this have damaged them?
    Thanks in advance, GF.

Did you get some Nikon software with the camera? Is that able to open the NEF files?

have you tried copying them from the card again?
do the affected files view correctly on the camera?
might be worth trying to convert the files to DNG using the DNG converter.

    Hi Gone Fishing

The only time I encounter a similar situation was when the electrical contacts between the lens and the camera did not work properly. The result was a black image with nothing in the EXIF but the file type. Couldn't find any solution to this and the easiest way of solving the problem was to go and take the shots again.
