Very much under the weather this week so not really researched my bets whatsoever besides remembering Gainey and Levin playing well last week.

    US -

    Spencer Levin @ 25/1
    Tommy Gainey @ 40/1

    Also a fiver double on McIlroy(Korea) and Donald(Madrid) @ 16/1

I'm going to chance my arm with three this week.

    1 - Bud Cauley 80/1 - Victor Chandler.

Here's his record since the US Open (turned pro after it)

    U.S. Open Championship (PGA) 71-72-74-76 9-over $18,620 T63rd
    Travelers Championship (PGA) 68-67-69-65 11-under $46,425 0.00 T24th
    Viking Classic (PGA) 68-67-66-67 20-under $148,800 0.00 T4th
    RBC Canadian Open (PGA) 69-72-68-72 1-over $105,300 0.00 T13th
    Reno-Tahoe Open (PGA) 72-77-MC-MC 5-over - 102nd
    Wyndham Championship (PGA) 69-68-68-70 5-under $12,005 0.00 T52nd

Took a couple of weeks off and could be worth a chance in this wide open field. He is also hitting 70% of his greens in regulation.

    2 - William McGirt 80/1 - William Hill

I was impressed how he hung in there during the Playoffs also ten of McGirt's last 15 rounds have been in the 60s and only one above par, so he's in form.

    3 - John Merrick @ 125/1 - William Hill.

He has some good stats but he'll need to improve with the putter.

Madrid masters is being played on a course only 18 months old.Long with plenty bunkers and slow undulating greens,it should suit long hitters who can putt well.My 4 are Coetzee,Castano,Aiken and Willet. All are priced between 33s and 50s and more on the exchanges ew bets might show a decent return.Donald, short in price and short off the tee might be worth laying. Will put up my Frys fancies later and by the way contrary to thread title Portugal masters is next week,or ive made a complete cock up of my flights and hotel lol.

Was in boylesports today and they had a special for a limited time on tiger woods at 10/1 win only and a maximum bet of 50 per customer. He was tipped in the racing post, the main arguments being its a weak field, he has a good caddie and he apparently shot a course record in a practice round in a greg norman designed course last week. I didnt bother placing the bet even if the enhanced odds were very tempting. He still has to prove he can put together 4 solid rounds of golf and winning this is not that important in the grand scheme of things.Whatever the quality of the field he is still going to be rusty and getting consistency in his swing will be his main aim this weekend obviously winning will be a major boost but not that important. I hope to see Tiger back winning tournaments soon but dont see him as a betting propostion just yet. I may regret not putting that bet on but all things considered im staying clear for now

    Went with:

Colsaerts (16/1) and Gagli (50/1) both e/w in Madrid

    McGirt (80/1) Chalmers (100/1) in the Frys.com

Couple of e/w cross the card doubles too.

Donald missing that 2 ft putt on the 8th gives me hope :D

He was so heavily backed pre tournament they cant afford to take anymore on him thats why he is a false price it has nothing to do with he's actual chance of winning, its all about balancing their books

i stuck 2.50e each way @16/1 on him for a bit of interest as a low round today and he is in with a shout.

the great tiger woods myth is alive and well

just backed Fran Molinari @11/2,it will boil down to the usual with him,if he puts well he'll win, really don't like Slatery's chances, although i don't have the balls to lay him heavy.......Molinari's iron play as usual has been great.....only 1 bogey on the par 3's all week is proof

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,200 ✭✭✭jjll

levein wont win this week anyway i noticed he misses alot of 8ft or under putts he started well last 2 days birdieing first 2 holes each day got to 7 under thought he had a great chance to kick on but didnt i think he could be a journeyman pro like na always make cut and pick up a few quid and keep card... its unbelievable briny baird has made 12 mill on pga tour without a win

Got a few bob Aiken ew at 50s only just missed out Castano tied for 6th and the Donald lay proved profitable, next week i will have to do the homework and it would be nice to be in the money as i will be there in Vilamoura.
