Was only listening to him last night. He is a folk legend. Had a terrific, lush finger picking style. Loved Pentangle too. :(

A very original style, him and John Renbourn made a sound so many others have tried and failed to imitate, sad news indeed...:(

Very sad - had only got into him and bought a couple of his albums in last few years.

    RIP.

Shocked. Sad to say I never saw him in concert.

This is such sad news. Both he and John Renbourn occasionally played the Troubadour club in Earl's Court when I was living there in the 90s, and it was captivating music. Roy Harper has written a moving tribute for Mojo magazine.

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.

His legacy was secure long before his passing, not that that would have interested Bert one bit.

An immense talent and a very decent human being.

    RIP

Bert's long time buddy & fellow Pentangler John Renbourn passed away on Thursday last, aged 70.

    RIP.

Slightly off topic, but a guy called Ryley Walker has a new album out called Primrose Green. He owes a debt to these chaps.

Great, checking out his other album "All kinds of you" now. Its class. If you're going to be in debt might as well be to the best. There's a hell of a lot going on musically so he can't be accused of aping anyone - maybe he could be accused of aping a period but who cares? Lovely stuff. Cheers made my day:)

Spot on there, and you're welcome, glad you like it.
