WORK PERMIT QUESTION!

My husband needs a work permit in order to work in Ireland, he's a language teacher, but has experience in other fields. I know that getting a work permit is difficult, but not impossible. Language is an advantage for him, because he speaks 4 languages fluently.
I have a friend who got a permit as an accountant, but she's working as a receptionist, and she's not getting paid as stated in her permit and not even working full time.
I wonder if there's anyone out there who could tell me if it's possible? If you got one, how did you get it? how long did it take?, if you have the chance to help us...etc....
Really worried here, since we're even thinking he could back home and I'll stay here, with our 6 months old... that would be terrible...

First off, what permit you get and how you go about it all depends on your situation. What do you mean about coming home and you staying here? its not very clear from your post.

In order for anyone to help you need to provide the following information:
    Are you Irish?
if not are you an EU citizen?
If you are not EU or Irish, do you require a visa to live here?
Are you currently living in Ireland?
Is your husband an visa required national?
If so, does he have a valid visa to come to Ireland?
Does he have a job offer or will he have to look for work?

If you give this information I might be able to offer some advice, but without it there is no way to help as there are many types of visa, residency and permits so it really does depend upon your situation.
