Hopefully his injury problems have cleared up as he always had great potential at the distance...

Its a savage field at Chicago tho, so he wont be short if pacers or folks to run with :)

I'd take 1 second under the olympic A standard now, Think he is capable of going a lot faster if he can stay injury free but getting to London is the main thing now.

Great stuff. Haven't heard much from him lately. Has he been racing?

Hopefully he can run well, stay injury free and get the qualifier.

Any thoughts/predictions? I'm not sure what shape he's in after a couple of years of injury, here's hoping for a new PB and Olympic qualifier.

His move in coach looked to have some initial positives back earlier in the year so hopefully I would imagine he is in good shape and feels strong and injury free. I reckon London qualifying is a second target and PB being first IMO

....and taper time for Mark Kenneally, I believe he is doing Amsterdam on Sunday week.

I thought I heard on Marathon Talk or something that he (Fagan) will be a pacer?? I could easily be wrong about that.

Is this on TV per chance? I haven't seen anything listed anywhere...

No he was a pacer last year or the year before.

It's a pity he wasn't offered an incentive to run Dublin, would be nice to have our best runners performing at home.

Not on the eurosport listings on their website anyway. This might be all : "TV Info: The marathon can be seen live on Chicago's NBC affiliate. You can also stream the event live on nbcchicago.com." http://bleacherreport.com/articles/877396-chicago-marathon-2011-route-date-start-time-and-tv-info

He may have been. He was in the past, although he decided not to run in the end.

He was a pacer (rabbit) in 2010, and didn't have a great time of it (interview here), because of the heat. Thankfully it looks to be a little cooler in Chicago this time around. Hopefully he's up for a solid PB plus Olympic qualifier. One article mentions that he's gunning for Treacy's NR, but you'd have to imagine that an Olympic appearance would be one of his key goals for this race, right? I would've thought it'd be better to get the Olympic qualifier than risk blowing up trying to get the national record.

Good article, in any other country they would just go and do it, Can't remember the last time there was a court case in the US about the way they pick their team. I think it would be a great idea to do that with the national Marathon.

Seems to be the problem is that they had already signed off on the selection criteria and it was too late to change them.
No reason why the criteria couldn't change for the next Olympics.
