Learning Mandarin

Hi I am interested in learning Mandarin mainly for business purposes as I have some clients based out of China and using a translator is quite awkward at times with long silences from either end when the translator is doing his job. I will also have to travel to China next year, so having a grasp of the language will be very helpful.

From my reading of the various posts I realize it requires time and commitment which I appreciate and I am happy to invest weekends and evenings.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?
