Just curious but what is the rule regarding receipt of medals (gold silver whatever). Someone told me today hat the 30 man squad all recieve medals and if someone is removed the squad due to injury they won't get one.

The person I was talking to was talking specifically about Dan Carter's removal from the all black squad but it got me thinking in general.

Can anyone find me the rule?

i don't think it's limited to 30, coaches, docs and physios get them as well so would imagine the injured squad player would get them too.

I'm sure they get medals but it wouldn't be presented to them at the medal ceremony after the game.

I heard that Carter will be made an advisor of some sort, so technically he'll still be part of the team and he'll get a medal that way.

I'm almost certain Jean De Villiers has a medal despite being injured in South Africa's first game in 2007.
