iPod updates

Everyone is buzzing about the iPhone, but lets take a minute to talk about the iPods, Seemed to be just a White Touch4 and some updates to the Nano6 or am I missing something significant? Will these interface changes to the Nano be backward compatible for current 6th Gen Nanos?

Does anyone know when the new iPod Touches will be in Irish stores? I'm heading off on the 17th and I saw Apple will start shipping them on the 12th but I wouldn't be able to take the risk of not getting it in time online.
