    Hi there,
I'm looking to replace a Mavic MA40 622x23 32 spoke rim that gave up the ghost on me. It's for a commuter so I'm looking for something that is strong and can take a lot of abuse.
I'd probably even replace the whole front wheel if someone had a decent one lying around.

The closer to South Dublin city centre area the better.

    Thanks

mavic open sport would be a good value replacement, think its part of the same lineage. 25euro from CRC. I actually just ordered one myself to build a front wheel for everyday use

mavic ma40's went out during the 90's so they are expensive to find now on ebay

Thanks for that. I've got a Mavic Open Pro on the rear so that could work. Goddamn CRC - they want to charge an extra €5 for a black one! Pah!
Sure I'll see if something else crops on this thread.

Also does anyone know of any wheel builders in town that charge anything less than €30 for a build?

ye I was gonna switch to a rear black open pro wheel I just built but not paying an extra 5 euro just so they match in colour!

how soon do you need the wheel? is your hub ok?
I have some shimano 105 hubs in black 32h and silver 36h, I can order DT Swiss Champion or Competition spokes but wouldnt have them till next week.

If you were to order the rim yourself and reuse the hub I could provide the spokes(Dt Swiss Champion) and build for 18euro total. (30 with a new hub including skewer)

I'm not in a crazy rush as I'm using the front wheel from my road bike - I just have to remember to not bounce it up curbs.
The hub and spokes seem good (the rim actually failed through metal fatigue on the braking surface, so it didn't collapse) - not sure which Shimano the hub is, but the skewer has Dura-Ace written on the handle.

It would be great if you can do the build, I'll PM you when a source a rim if that's ok. Unless you have any spare rims?
