    Anybody had this issue?

My phone was working perfectly, was down to about 10 % batt. and it kept coming up ' charging not supported with this accessory' when nothing was plugged in or attached, didnt think much of it, was going to charge it up before it went dead but didnt get around to it in time, when it was dead i plugged it into the wall socket.
An hour later realised nothing had happened, just assumed the charger was acting up, its an old non original one, so i went to work and plugged in my new original charger, still nothing. checked both chargers since on friends iphones, and both chargers working perfectly

I've pulled a bit of lint from the charger connector, nothing major and its spotless in there, ive shone a torch in there, no signs of corrosion at all.

tried doing a soft and hard reset, but its not possible with flat battery, the red screen with the plug and electric symbol pops up.

Ive had it plugged in with both chargers for hours, tried restarting pc with it attached just to see if it provoked a reaction, nothing.

Phone is about a 3 weeks past a year old.

Any tips, and any idea what i can expect from apple in this circumstance?
The phone has been looked after, its pristine, always in a case, no signs of water damage, anything i should or shouldn't say ?

All tips appreciated, i'm lost without the phone.

I'd take a guess that its water damaged even though you can't see any signs of it but thats usually why you would get that message! if i was in your position id take it into a repair shop and say you are not quiet sure how long u have it, it would be nearly a year! And then hope for the best!! Thats just what i would do in your situation. Then if you know its water damage its a rice bag and the hot press for a few days :o

I had the same issue with my iPhone 4 - after I put it into the washing machine in my jacket pocket :D

I dried the phone out over two days, but afterwards the battery would not take any charge. I got a new battery on eBay for EUR 6.00, swapped it out (it's just 3 small screws) and the phone is almost 100% again

    Cheers for replies people,

I checked for water damage, no pink signs, then I scrubbed the dock connector with a dry toothbrush, and doing so, noticed the moisture detector was a very light pink, I had been peering into this hole for the whole day before and didnt notice it, so im not sure if it was there, or the toothbrush had a touch of moisture on it.

Anyways, no Apple store in my country, so went to one of their retailers, i was 21 days out of warranty, he said to chance my arm, gave me a number to call and told me it was luck of the draw who answers the phone.

Got a lovely lady and charmed her a bit and she went to supervisor and got me a repair/replacment for free.

BUT.... she asked me the condition of the phone, i said pristine, which it is, she asked if was any water damage, i said no, she didnt ask me to check the indicators, and she said the phone would be picked up by courier tomorrow and i'd have a replacement or repair within 4-5 days.

So, I'm hoping at this stage when its been cleared for repair/replacement they overlook the pink indicator, keeping fingers crossed on this one, even though the guy in the retailer service dept said it was not red, just a light pink.

The phone has never been dropped or 'wetted', so im presuming its just been sweat/ condensation.

Wish me luck, I really do not want to fork out for a new phone, and cant imagine life without an apple.

They are supposed to have eased up on moisture damage a good while back, so it will be interesting to hear what they say. Let us know how it goes.

Just got an email to say im getting a new replacement phone.

pretty chuffed tbh, I really was expecting two fingers.

Have to say im extremely impressed with the customer service ( granted I got a new phone) but the process was amazing, they collected phone by courier, and from then on, i got an email every 8-10 hours with an update, tracking etc, when it arrived and just got final one to say new phone posted out and will be delivered by tnt tomorrow.

I was buying a new mp3 player for the gym, and was gonna go for a cheap one, but now i'll get an ipod.

    nice one apple

Phone arrived today, I was expecting a refurb, but seems got a new retail phone, as it came in large original box with plug, earphones etc.

    Very impressed to be honest.

Wow! Thats a good story with a happy ending:D

@ Evergreen - Is it definately just three small screws, can we replace the battery ourselves, or do we need any soldering done?
