    Anyone can recommend a course for grown-ups? I live in North Dublin. Even North County Dublin would be ok. How much would it cost?

    I have 0 experience :)

    All archery clubs will offer an introductory course.

    for field archery find your nearest club here;

    http://www.irishfieldarchery.com/index.html

    for target archery try here;

    http://archery.ie/site/index.php/current-clubs/

    for traditional only styles try here

    http://www.itfas.webs.com/

    What are the differences?
    IFAF (the first link) promotes field archery using any and all styles of bows from ancient horsebows through to hi-tech compounds, shooting courses are laid out in typically woodland settings using a variety of 3d foam animal targets and paper targets. IFAF clubs will allow you the most variety of shooting styles.

    Target archery consists of shooting at round targets over fixed distances.

    Itfas clubs are basically the same as IFAF clubs but only allow wooden bows and arrows.

    All styles of archery can be great craic, field archery is probably less formal and in my opinion more fun!

    Most important do not buy anything until you have been to a club and have been shown the ropes, finding the bow that will suit you is a very personal thing and should be a perfect fit for your size strength and shooting style.

    Welcome to archery!

    I started a year ago in SportsLink Archery club - based in the SportsLink leisure centre in Santry. They have courses going on at the moment (Mid October) pop down asap on a Monday night -around 8.15 and ask for Jim or Hugh or Bennie
