im clearing out some room from the house and want to get rid of 126 dvds and i think 23 boxsets, whats the best course of action? ive had them on adverts.ie with little or no response, not too keen on splitting as its so much hassle.
options are trade in? probably no value on them,
    car boot sale,anyone done this?
    attic,no good to anyone
    ebay..lot of hassle im guessing
has anyone any other ideas to move them on.dont want to donate them as i would like some return on them
    thanks

Honestly, if you're set on making money off them you're going to have to rely on adverts, ebay etc and put up with a bit of hassle. There's really not much market for pre owned DVDs considering you can buy most older DVDs new for under a fiver.

yeah i realise dvds are cheap now..seriously considering the car boot sale option, might get rid of some other stuff too

Car boot is definitely the way to go mate.

Adverts is a bit of a joke unless you are prepared to let the items go for next to nothing.

Posting them as a job lot on ebay you would be lucky if you got 100 quid total given that nothing is rare in the collection plus unless you stick a reserve on it you are pretty much tied to selling them.

With the boxsets you might do better posting them on ebay as seperate lots ie scrubs, sheild etc rather than altogether.

I brought about 75-100 dvds into Gamestop recently and just got some store credit for them. €1 per dvd...it's not much but it's worth more than the dvd sitting on my shelf and not being watched.

Bring us your old cds and dvds, and we’ll trade them for better cds and dvds, in a ‘want, want, need’, football sticker inspired swapsies deal where you offload your old stuff for shiny new stuff. Or, take the money and run, we’ll pay you cash.

They introduced a thing in the US recently where Sony would take a DVD + $5 (IIRC) and give you the Blu-ray of the film you were trading.

Would love to see something like that here.

    EDIT: A-ha.. found it!

I see you sold them. But FYI donating to your library would have been an option.

that would be a great idea...would mean they would sell plenty of blu ray players too

Somebody posted a link to e2music.ie......
Does anyone know how much they're likely to give for DVDs? Obviously this is going to vary by DVD etc, but any roundabout figure?

Don't want to bother if I'm gonna be ripped off.

I ask because a few years ago I brought a big fúckload of DVDs into Gamestop Henry Street but all they would give me, for each DVD, was about 61 cent!

I wouldnt think you would get more than 1 or 2 quid per title tbh.It would depend on the item itself but if its just bog standard stuff that there would be alot of floating around I doubt you would get much more than that.
