Hi lads just wondering about the Saorview box. My aerial at home picks up the Rte channels perfect but I get a blurred vision reception for Tv3 and TG4. If I get the new box will it pick up these channels or do I also need a new aerial for Tv3 and TG4? I used to have all the English Channels before the aerial switch off in the uk. Thanks.

Are you using the same aerial for RTÉ and TV3/TG4? Can you post a picture?

Are you receiving your signal from Mt Leinster? If so you require 2 aerials for the 4 analogue services from there VHF (analogue RTÉ) and UHF (analogue tv3/tg4/). UHF aerial also required for Saorview.

Hi yes the signal is from Mt Leinster. I have two aerials up on the roof for the Rte and the other one that picked up the English stations before the signal was switched off.Never had decent picture for Tv3 so just watched it through sky. So I was wondering if I got the Box would it give me a clear picture of Tv3 in the kitchen.Thanks.

Make sure you are covered for Saorview http://www.saorview.ie/make-the-switch/coverage-checker/.

To receive a decent analogue TV3/TG4 picture from Mt Leinster you would require a third aerial - UHF Group A, not necessary now that Saorview is available and the analogue signal will be switched off in 12 months. The same will apply to the VHF aerial unless you still require it to watch RTÉ on non Saorview TVs.

To receive the Saorview channels you will require a Group B UHF aerial pointing at Mt Leinster connected to a Saorview TV or STB, if you are witin the coverage area.

The aerial pointing at the UK may be able to receive the Freeview channels with a digital receiver, someone in the area may be able to advise you.

Hi, just recently got the walker saorview box. regarding the recording function, does anyone know is is possible to change the channel while recording as when i am recording one channel it does not allow me to change to another. this defeats the purpose of recording...
Does anyone know if there is any other saorview box make that allows you to change channel while recording???

The Triax TR112 allows you to record one channel whilst watching another who are currently on the same mux. In my opinion its a much better box to that of the walker.

There is also a cheaper version under the badge name of Tower Electronics Model no TR HD1700. This uses exactly the same software as that of the triax but Im not sure if it allows you to do the same functions as that of the triax.

All the functions are available as I have a Tower-well pleased with it,however it wont playback outside the box nor can the files be converted on a pc.This is the case with Xoro and Triax STB,s with later software.Early firmware allowed playback on PC,s etc as far as I know.
