bumper warped after repair

    Hi,

Just got my car back from a crash repair place for damage to the driver's side rear bumper after another car scraped it in a carpark. I checked the damaged area and it was reshaped and repainted nicely....

BUT: after getting the car home I noticed that the opposite (undamaged) side of the bumper isn't aligned quite right and seems to be mis-shaped. I called them up and they said they didn't do anything to that side and only removed the right hand side for the repair... is that normal?
    1. How can you remove the right hand side of the rear bumper to carry out a reshaping and respraying etc while the left side is still attached?
    2. If this is normal, how would you not end up bending/warping the bumper?

They did say I can bring the car in tomorrow if I want (...of course I do). But I just want to get an idea of what the usual process is for a repair like that before I'm talking to them again.

Thanks in advance for any ideas,
    S

PS - I know I probably should have checked the far side of the bumper when I was picking up the car but I didn't think to look at undamaged areas to look for new problems - live and learn!

They might just have pulled the damaged side away slightly to carry out the repair. In doing this they probably caused the problem you see on the opposite side. Still, it shouldnt be any major hassle to put in back into place correctly

yeah, ok - well sure I suppose I'll see what happens in the morning. I'm sure you're right in that it shouldn't be a big job to fix regardless. Hopefully there's no hassle about it anyway.

Strange that they would choose a method of fixing the original damage that would possibly cause a new problem.
