    Since yesterday the missus Toshiba L300 laptop will not power up . If it's plugged in it just has an amber light to indicate lack of power .

    I noticed today where the power lead connects to the laptop that the connection is a slight bit loose . Is it possible to buy a different connector for the laptop or might it just be a case it has come loose from a circuit board ? Excuse my ignorance here please .

    Are you sure the power adapter is not broken, do you have a meter to check the output voltage from the adapter.

    You tell us? Is there movement from inside the laptop, or is it merely the cable?

    It's not uncommon for the connection in the laptop to become loose, and even detached completely.

    Power adaptor is fine works perfect with another laptop .

    The DC Jack tend to go in these models purely through bad design, you will need to get the DC Jack Harness replaced, priced for supply and labour typically between €90 and €120 inc VAT

    Supraman- If you see any light on your laptop (even if it's not powering on), then connection between power adaptor and systemboard is fine.
    <snip>
    If you have any technical background, if you can open your laptop and if you have meter, I can tell you what you need to check on the mainboard.
    Cheers

    No amber light means battery is totally drained so you now know where the problem lies (-; Good luck with it!

    hey guys,

    Same thing happened to to day. I also have a Toshiba L300. A blue screen flashed up and the laptop died. It would not turn on.I took it to PC world- really helpful but said it was the motherboard.

    Would cost €65 to send off and about €200 to install motherboard.
    This laptop is only 2 yrs old. My last laptop was Toshiba & had it 4 years- gave it to a relative 2yrs & its still going strong.

    This seems unlike Toshiba, is there any cheaper way to fix/replace the motherboard?

    thanks
