Petrol prices

Ok, so my local garage is 153/litre. Meanwhile Oil prices, at least the futures, have headed down from $113 to todays $77. Even considering that in Europe, the Brent is the one to use, that's down from $120 to today's $100.

Now the Greens added on 15c/l and then there was another 5c/l added on in the next budget. There weren't riots at the time because prices were collapsing due to the crash.

I believe the total excise is about 80c/l. I've included the vat on the excise too. Given the peak price I saw in Dublin was 155c/litre, that means today's price should be about 142c/litre based on Brent prices.

I think we're being ripped off by about 10c/litre. Sound right?

We're being ripped off by about 70c/litre, but who's ever going to do anything about it?

Petrol stations say that the price of petrol at the pumps reflect the price of it when purchased 3 months or so ago when thare tank was filled so its that price we are paying now so if the price drops its probably gone back up again before we get to see the reduction..but the joke is that if it goes up its put up over night..by the government or the oil companys both gangsters!!!

It has gone down recently. I paid 152.8 a litre for Petrol on the 20th September and it's now down to 148.8 at the same station. The local Maxol (that's not on my way home unfortunately) was 145.9 on Sunday when I passed.

Even Petrol in Topaz at the Square is under 150 and that's usually a good bit more expensive than any other stations I pass.

One of the main reasons why fuel is expensive now is because the Euro is weak and the Dollar is strong. So for the moment, the price will remain high. As we all know oil is traded in Dollars.
