Maybe. But there's nothing wrong with being a flash in the pan, better that than be a complete loser.

Given the small percentage of bands that endure over a long career, I'd say 60% (or more) of music I listen to is from bands that never make another album.

I'd say less than 10% of what i listen to is this kind of radio pulp. TBH i find them worse than the Rhianna's and Gaga's of the world. Also there's nothing Alternative or Independent about them. Repetitive and no substance.

Ah come on dont be such an old goat. They're a perky bunch of kids who managed to belt out some reasonably inventive songs, which are "alternative" if not very independent.

Why you should find them more offensive to your well honed ear than lady gaga or rihanna god alone knows, but to each his own I suppose.

    :P

Honestly i'm not being contrary for the sake of it, there are so many better albums than this one. If you like this type of music off the top of my head, Land Lovers, Tieranniesaur and Squarehead have better albums out this year. All three of these will be playing Dublin/Ireland shortly go see them live, buy their album.

What annoys me so much, is every summer you get these and their ilk getting praise which i don't think is warranted. They just have better backing overall and their 'hits' get picked up easier than a smaller band with a stronger overall album/music ability.

I believe it's bands like this that make it more difficult for smaller (better imo) bands a chance at making it, that said if you truly are good enough you'll get out but it's not easy.

I am relatively fond of the Naked and Famous, having just managed to catch a rousing performance of Young Blood in a New Zealand vineyard around half eleven on New Year's Eve 2010. We nearly missed it because we got distracted by Hungarian Bread, but we caught the only song we really wanted to hear. Good times, good people.

Having seen them live properly since (in considerably less awesome venues), I'm not so sure. They have a number of solid songs - Girls Like You gets the blood pumping - but overall fairly bland. Passive Me Passive You does have more variety than I expected, but something I listened to once, thought it was OK, and promptly moved on with my life. Their ****ter songs (and even some of the better ones) remind me of MGMT, and I really hate MGMT.

The more I hear "Passive me, Aggressive you", the better it gets. Looking forward to seeing them in Nov.

Understood. And I get the Foster-the-people-mgmt-froth similarities too.

But I think there's a place for that and at least it isnt Hyped Marketing driven Musak, at least they wrote it together in their bedroom in NZ.

Most of the best music written was done in someone's bedroom.

I think they are a good band, and have more depth than some other bands mentioned, to compare them to Foster the People, I think is unfair, Passive me, Agressive you isn't all the same and IMO is an album that, if you like the genre, you can listen all the way through and enjoy it.

In terms of Bells, don't rate it.
