    Hi,
I got 2 new laptops recently, both dell.
one came with very little extra dell cr*p on it and it booted very fast and all is well 6 months later. So when i needed another new laptop for my wife, we went with dell, this time we went for an xps!
Now that I have it brand new it boots extremely slowly compared to my previous 6month old inspiron.

Im suspicious that its because bloatware on the xps.
Has anyone else noticed that brand new dell pcs quite often come with loads of useless software trials etc.
Is there an easy way to remove all this junk quickly? and would this bloatware be responsible for a very poor windows boot up time?

Only way to speed it up is to turn the services off on boot. (As well as uninstalling the crapware that comes with it).

Start - Run - MSconfig and go to the startup tab. Just uncheck services that you deem unnecessary. (The likes of adobe and office speed launchers).

Either that or you could install ccleaner which works as a registry cleaner, uninstall tool and also can edit the startup process from that. Quite handy.

I picked up a Vostro 3550 there a few weeks ago . Found it fairly slow at startup . I removed a lot of the bloatware . The ones I was unsure of I just did a search on to see if I needed them or not . I also followed this guide including going through the list of the services I could switch off . All in all, now it is one fast machine .

The first laptop i got 6months ago was from Ibood.com, so that might have explained why it had less bloatware. It was set up as a dutch system but it works very fast so it must be clean.

Thanks for all the tips, Im going to give the ccleaner a go first to see what it can do. Then i'll move onto the services.

I had ccleaner installed and was amazed at the amount of rubbish it has to clear up every time i run it.I got a full sub. and i've not seen or heard any complaints about it .

If you can, do a fresh install of windows. Once you have a copy of the drivers it'll be pretty straight forward, and you'll defiantly be rid of you're bloatware!
