Hmm, it was better than I thought it would be, a few niggles.

It was good to see House somewhat neutered. Inevitable that he'd get involved in a case, of course, which was OK. The Dr. he analysed, well, she'd have to be good looking (let me guess, he'll hire her) and he has to be allowed a cane. Hollywood would have us believe that prison's all about systems, true to some degree I suppose, no different here. Kinda glad the normal House team weren't there at all.

Good episode, had more of an early House feel to it. Yeah I'm thinking he'll definitly be hiring that doctor alright but I'm happy with that as she seems good. Hopefully its a good sign for future episodes.

I liked it too. I had gotten tired of the old team. What caused the show to jump the shark for me was when Masters left and they got 13 back. I had a lot of respect for the show after they disbanded his original team early on, although the 'House Factor' competition for the first half of the following season was a bit silly.

Is he going back to Princeton Plainsboro I wonder? Maybe he'll have to if they want to keep the Wilson dynamic going but +1 on him hiring the pretty new doctor, but I like her so that's not so bad!

Interesting enough episode but will be disappointed if the second episode is still about the prison. I presume since Foreman and Chase are still on the show that he will be going back to Plainsboro- I doubt those two would ever leave that hospital.Thought the prison doctor was good-looking but had very little personality. Couldn’t see her and 13 on the same team. I did like that she was the mouth-piece for the writers in her defence of House’s behaviour- she thought it was ridiculous he went to jail for nearly killing a number of people by driving a car into their house. I don’t think even with a good lawyer he’d get off for that.

i really enjoyed it, good to see an episode away from the hospital. The new doc could be a good character. Its a great show but it got a bit stale in places last season. After this episode i have high hopes for the remainder of season 8

I think House has def lost momentum over the last few seasons so I wasn't expecting much from the episode to be honest. I was pleasantly surprised though, I'm hooked on Season 8 already now!

    As for episode 2
he's back in Princeton Plainsboro alright according to the Sky guide and this

Is there any credibility to the speculation that this made be the last season?

Ideally, it will be the end, but no word yet.

David, will you be writing an episode solo this season?

David Shore: Maybe, yes, maybe. The last couple of years my job is to make sure the scripts are all up to the level we expect on the show and I rewrite every script to a greater or lesser extent and I've been quite happy in that role. This show requires a lot of research and I don't have a lot of time for that research so for that simple reason I haven't been writing a lot from scratch. If it turns out that this is a final season, which is yet to be determined, I may well write the last one. I will probably write the last one.

I think if they want to extend it beyond its current format, it could adopt a Columbo-esque approach, where it's a straight up procedural. Just House randomly popping up in new hospitals with new strange diseases. I mean, it wouldn't suit everyone, but it'd breath some life into it beyond its tired format.
