    Hi all,

I am going to be in Dublin on Saturday for an event so will have a few hours free in the afternoon. Should I stick around Dublin to look for a ring or make the trip up to Newry? Wont have time to do both.

I bought the OH ring up in Newry. In terms of price, it is a bit cheaper (alot cheaper for me, strong euro at the time) but I would say the selection in Newry was okay but obviously if your coming to dublin, there will be more places. Look at the exchange rate before you commit to either and alot of places will have the rings online. Personally, I saved about 25% by up north, but that was a different time :)

To be honest sterling seems to be quiet strong at the moment. That will impact the price a fair bit

This may not be popular but why not buy local and promote home businesses? I'm sure there's a jeweler in your area that can design and make/stock a ring if you see one online that you like. Personally, If I could not get one locally then I'd go for Dublin/other big town, that's just me though, then again, given the opportunity I'd also go for a lab grown diamond.

Oh congratulations, good luck with whatever you decide :) Enjoy shopping!
