Hay just wondering if anybody got their grant yet?
I heard they were in? but I never received confirmation from the county council as to whether I'd be receiving it or not again this year?
If anyone knows let me know :D
    Thanks :D

Keep an eye on the Fees & Grants website: http://fees.nuim.ie/

They're excellent at updating it when cheques come in from the various Local Authorities, and from what I can see none are in yet :)

It partly depends on your Local Authority as well, at the earliest it might be the middle of the month so towards the end of next week the 14th or the start of the following week but i for one wont be holding my breath :D

Some of them are in. There was a list of them up on the noticeboard at the fees and grants office.

If anyone is Dublin City Council then just so you know you wont get a cheque it will just be put in your bank account depending on how early you sent your forms in.

I was told mine should be in by next Friday.

If you only got your letter last week then you will be waiting a good while for your money.

Question: my grant was rejected this year, how long do I have before I HAVE to pay my registration fee?

30th June. Don't let them tell you anything else. Can pay it off in bits, too.

Probably a stupid question but i didnt have a grant as an undergrad and am collecting my 1st installment on Monday.

Can i cash it in the bank it is drawn on, or do i have to lodge it and wait for it to clear? I really dont fancy waiting another week for it to clear, would be way handier if i could cash it and lodge the cash. To say i am skint at this stage is an understatement :D I'm guessing its probably crossed?

I'm pretty sure the cheques are crossed. It shouldn't take that long for it to clear, so don't worry! I've never heard of it taking a week.

Banks wont cash a cheque and hand out the money to you. You will have to lodge the cheque into your account and wait for it to clear. If you have a few bob in the account already, you can draw that to take you over the few days.

It's never taken more than a day for mine to lodge :S

Mine all went through instantly. It's a Govt cheque, so yours should too.

Literally in, out and it's ready in the ATM in less than 5 min.

Sound, thanks for the replies lads, its a serious struggle financially at the mo i asked my bank and they told me any cheque would take a week to 7 days to clear, good to know its faster than that! That week to 7 days is why i was hoping to cash it in the branch its drawn on and then lodge the cash into my own bank.

Cashing cheques is a thing of the past. But I don't see how it would take that long. Personal cheques can take time to clear but something like that should clear instantly. I get paid for working at the elections, that's paid by KCC and it clears instantly every time.
