When bought with any Netbook with Win 7 Starter. Just add cat no 5084100 to your order (worth 99.99euro).

Might be useful for someone. Link of the upgrade pack

Tbh, any of the entry-level netbooks do fine with starter due to the constrained memory, in fact in my experience Win XP is the way to go

    But it's free...

And also RAM is very cheap these days, wouldn't worry about that. I run Win7 ultimate on my netbook without issue, and it's running on a first gen atom. No problems at all with it.

Each to their own, im not saying it isnt a good deal, but my samsung atom 1gig struggles to multitask on win 7 starter, a memory upgrade would cost 40 bucks on ebay, considering i got the netbook for €120 s/h, its a bit of an expensive upgrade

I picked up the Asus 1011px with dual-core N570 and Windows 7 upgrading pack for 249euro, very happy so far. Already selling my upgrading pack on adverts, need money for ram.:D

You can find a 2GB DDR3 ram for below 20euro easily.

Ditto. Acer Aspire (over 3 years old) with 1GB RAM and a tiny 8GB SSD and works fine!

my wife's samsung NC10 netbook (single core n270 atom) runs windows 7 just fine with 2gb of ram, as did my acer revo r3610 (dual core atom 330) nettop and that gets used as a HD media centre and download box. :)

and yes, DDR3 is as cheap as chips these days so there's no reason not to. it's so cheap that i actually bought 2x 4gb sticks of DDR3 for my work laptop out of my own pocket as it was lagging a bit.

I only bought it last week. It was advertised as 1GB and 16GB but turned out to have only 512MB and 8GB. But that was an honest mistake by the seller and I got it for €80 delivered in perfect condition :)

Not working now? Or was discount taken off at the till? Where did you see the offer?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,023 ✭✭✭Canonfan

Argos offers normally only last a few days, I'm sure it's finished. It was showing on a red promotional catalog.
