Opel Astra CD Player

    I recently bought a 99 opel astra the cd player was working perfectly... then last week it just stopped working, when i put in a cd it says error and ejects the cd. the radio is working fine. This happen anyone else or has anyone any ideas how to fix it??

    it was a copied cd and it worked for a while then stopped but i tried real cd's as well and they didnt work after!

    not really sure what you mean (I'm a girl and dont know much about cars) just really annoyed my cd player is broken i do lots of driving, but its the original cd player that came with the car as far as i know if thats any help!!

    Most likely the model of your stereo is Delco CDR500. This will be written on front face of radio. If I am correct then the laser which reads the cd is faulty and needs to be replaced. This can also apply to stereo model VDO 500 .

    The older generation of stereo fitted to Opels seem to burn out their lasers very easily when using CD-R media. It's recommended to only use genuine retail disks.
