Is it possible to get UK reg plates made in southern Ireland? Can any motor factors make them up? Thanks.

Unlikely, a tourist isn't going to suddenly need UK plates made up. Why else would somebody be driving a UK car in Ireland? To evade tax? Never!

As it was discussed millions of times here - there is plenty of exceptions where people can drive foreign registered car in Ireland legally.

Anyway - your number plate might get stolen or destroyed.
Even small fender-bender might cause a dectruction of plate, so you will need one.

Yes you can. Try Craigs plates on google. They might not be legal in the UK though as they need to have the makers ID on them over there.

Correct - but it depends how old the car is. Obviously there was no retro-fit order when that law was introduced in 2005 or something.

NEW plates for an older car would need the makers ID just the same.

Try Halfords. I think they can do it.

Just to update the thread in case anyone else is looking

East Coast Motor factors (LINK) can make yellow plates but they won't be technically legal in NI/UK as by default their machine puts a hyphen (-) in the text, as per Irish reg plates.

They didn't actually have any yellow plates in stock so I ordered a set from Eire Plates.

HTH if anyone else needs NI/UK plates here.
