Modding Samsung Galaxy S. Where to start??

    Hi

    I'm new to all of this but after having my sgs for nearly a year I've decided to try and upgrade it a bit. Can anybody point me to a simple enough guide on how to go about modding the phone. I had a look on xda but couldn't find a step by step for galaxy that gave a start to finish guide for a noob like me.

    Can anybody help. Do I need to root my phone first and then install a custom rom?? I heard people a few months ago talking about darkys rom. Is that out of date now or still going or what would ye recommend? Any and all help appreciated!!

    I was in the same position as you a few days ago, and the lads here helped me out with great advice and info. I'm sure they will reply asap when they see this thread.

    It's a little confusing at first but read and re-read the instructions and don't do anything until your 100% confident that your happy with it.

    I'm enjoying the VillainROM on my SG2 at the moment and can't wait to start getting some themes.

    Dont have the phone meself but rooting and installing custom roms is fairly simple.
    This ginger dude with the odd beard seems to know what he's on about, hopefully his vid tut can help you along your way.

    There's loads of different roms. As I said, I dont have the sammy so I cant say which rom is the best. Any ROM I ever used on the HTC's have always been better than stock rom so you cant really go to far wrong.
    Villain Rom is supposedly class.
    Some of them have different themes etc built into them so depending on how you lke the look on the phone, could make you veer more towards one rom over the other.

    Best of luck anyways, I didnt watch all of chubby beard dude but hopefully the video he has, works for you.
