Just wondering has anybody on the forum used Airtricity for their boiler service lately and how did they find them - I know they have an offer on at the moment and was wondering how this compares with an independent rgii service engineer?

€79 is around the rate you would get any RGI to service your boiler for, some less, and i think Airtricity charge extra after the first 40min.

I will not use airtricity, Board Gais or if the offer the ESB for boiler servicing. Reason being they check the boiler....... Granted this is all they are expected to do but a decent rgii gas person will do that bit more like check the boiler, thermostats and zone valves

and usually for the same price or less.

Whom ever you use make sure they provide the cert of conformance.

There are a lot of RGI's floating around with 18 days:eek: gas training behind them, I find a lot of these 18 day wonders are attracted to bulk servicing with large companies as it's easier than starting on your own, also with the amount you pay for a service up to 60% of the money stays with the large company so the engineer is forced to clear a lot of work to keep the wolf from the door.

To answer you're question, I would go with a independent as they are less likely to pretend they have done the service.

ur spot on there gary, having spoken to some employees of some of these companies, even if they wanted to carry out a complete and thorough service they wouldnt have the time to as they have to complete an unrealistic amount of services per day
