Why don't colleges offer French for beginner's?

    *Don't know if this is the right place to post this so..

    Most language courses let you do German/Spanish/Japanese etc at beginner level, but irish and french are at advanced level only? I understand why Irish is as you learn it from primary school, but why make French advanced only and not german too since they're both the main languages in secondary schools? Not that I want that, I just want to know why French isn't for beginners as I would like to learn it :S

    Way more schools do French than do German. I think Trinity offers German at an advanced level too. You'd be wasting peoples time starting a French course at basics unfortunately.
