    hi
just wondering has anyone being hit with a security deposit from Board Gais when cancelling a direct debit.
It was never explained to us when we signed up, their customer service department is very unhelpful.

Does anyone know if I can leave them without having to pay this.

Wish I'd never changed over their the worst company to deal with very like Ryanair.

Lesson to all stay away from Board Gais.

Would appreciate any feedback on this.

All gas and electricity and many phone companies will ask for a deposit if you are not paying be direct debit.

They are basically giving you gas on credit and hope you will pay. Having a direct debit gives them a small amount of security that they can get the money every month / 2 months.
The only way around this is to have a pay as you go meter installed.

If you want to switch provider - just call the provider and tehy will do everythign.

BTW - If its electricity, ESB are now cheaper than BG, but for the biggest discount, you'll have to be on DD!
