Hi, just wondering what the deal is with this? If I work part time, how much do I earn before i am cut off? For instance, looking at a minimum wage job that is 21.5 hours, the works out at €185.95 before tax.

It's usually based on days, not earnings, I think.

I think you have to be working less than 3/6 days.

What form do you fill out to make the 2 day claim. Is it accesable online or does one have to pick it up in the office. Its called a UP14B form i have been told but cant seem to find it online. Any body know

I think you have to collect it at your SW office.

Hi I will be working 20 hours a week at eur 10.30 an hour. I will be supplementing social welfare the other days of the week. Does anyone know what rate you get on the social for the other days or what I would probably come out with at the end of the week? I have no kids, I pay 200 towards my mortgage a month, I have the usual car bills. Basically a single girl on my own. Thanks!

    Info here:
    http://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/social_welfare/social_welfare_payments/unemployed_people/jobseekers_allowance.html

JSB and JSA are paid by the day - to work out the rate per day divide the full time rate that applies to you by 6 (Sundays arn't counted for some reason). For each day you work (to a maximum of 3) your SW will be cut by that amount. So if you are getting 188 p.w. and work 3 days - they will deduct 31.33 per day or 93.33 total.

Roughly (before tax, social levy etc) you should have:

    Salary - 206
    SW - 94.67

    total: 300.67 before deductions

Remember If your 20 hours are stretched out over more then 3 days you will lose all SW.

This post is misleading its partially correct for JSB but totally incorrect for JSA. JSA is means tested so if OP is on JSA any earnings from employment including Sunday will be calculated to get OPs means.

In view of the fact that Bannasidhe has not replied I will try and help you. You state that you have been working full time for the last 4 years... from this info you are entitled to apply for jobseekers benefit casual. I am presuming your average weekly wage in 2009 was €300 or over that. If this is the case then for every day you do not work you will receive €31.33 approx. So if you work 3 days you will receive €94 (this is rounded up) if you work 2 days mon- sat and work on sunday you will receive €125.33 approx...go into your local sw office and open a claim....bring in means of id..eg. passport and proof of address e.g. recent utility bill. If living at home get a letter from parents with their utility bill stating you are living there. Also bring in a letter from your employer stating you have been reduced from full time to a 3 day week stating the date your days were reduced.
