My Father is in his late eighties and is living on his own. A few years back he got armchair from somewhere - HSE , I think. He said he was measured for it and it is to help his posture when sitting watching TV..It is now well worn and needs replacing and he can't remember where he got it except that it was free ...I would be grateful if someone could point me in the right direction as I would like to follow this up for him but don't have a clue where he got it.

With cutbacks they may not be free anymore but eitherway I would like to get him a similar one..Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

You would need to contact your HSE Local Health Office & talk to someone dealing with services for the elderly. They could arrange for an occupational therapist to call out to the house & assess your father for anything which he may need.

List of offices here & if they can't help they will be able to point you in the right direction

I suspect it was supplied by the Community Occupational Therapist.

Give the HSE Freephone number 1800 520 520 a call, and ask who and where the OT is for his area.

You may need a referral from his GP, as I suspect his OT file will have been closed as he hasn't been seen since.

It could be a good thing that the chair need to be replaced, because as the gentleman is that little bit older, he may now need other things to assist him around the house. Grab Rails, Bath Lift etc. So a new assessment of his needs makes sense.

    Best of luck.

    Darth.
