duplicate folders/ Files on a server share

Anyone any suggestions for identifying duplicate folders / files on a network share, F&P Server, please. We have a uesr who has massive amounts of files by quantity and size. He has a requirement to store lots of images. Over the years they have become disorganised, which probably has resulted in duplicates folders and certainly files.

Simple and cost effective solution advice greatly appreciated.

TreeSize's file matching is not 100% so just it for reference only.
What type of FnP Server are you running?

I think 110% that we are not talking about same software !!
Download a trial version,run a scan (local or UNC),select "by users" and do an update,check files,export report !!!

I can attach screenshots if you haven't seen the software running before !

I am using it since version 3....this software is on any Sysadmin' toolbox list !

hi if your prepared to take the jump into powershell (if you haven't I'd strongly recommend it) this piece of code is perfect:
It matches based on the content and not just the name so you find true duplicates.

In the unix world fslint will de-duplicate files using soft links to a single copy.

Visipics is a good free utility for finding (as previews) and deleting masses of duplicate images. If this is likely to leave a bunch of empty folders then I would just nab a decent empty directory deletion utility.
