    Hey.
    I am here out of desperation for info.
    Its nearly 5 am and i am suffering with this tooth.
    I have one second from the back on my lower jaw.It basically rotted inside and the front fell away leaving a base which is now dark colour and the back of the tooth intact.
    But the base of the tooth and my jaw are in pain now so im worried it will or is already going septic and that i will need a root canal or something more than just pulling it out.

    I cant afford 50 euro right now to even see a dentist let alone afford to get one pullled,im unemployed and no medical card.
    So i was wondering is there some kind of situation where if its an emergency i can go to a dentist and get this tooth out?

    I have been trying to get a medial card but most doctors wont take you on.
    What do homeless people do when they have a bad tooth?!!? do they just deal with it or what?
    I have a feeling a septic tooth could kill you sooner than later.
    Its also too awkward for me to pull out myself if i was that stuck.

    Hope someone has some good news for me.Not sure how sane i will be if this carries on through the night and all day tomorrow.

    Sounds like something similar to what i had. My tooth was the same and it turns out i had an abscess so i had to go on a course of tablets before i could get the tooth out.

    Only thing i can think that you could use is clove oil and put it a bit of cotton wool then onto your tooth. I think you can get it in most chemists.

    Thats the only thing i can think off to help with the pain

    i found that clove oil is great for it. Its what i use when i have a tooth ache. Also get the painkillers into you. Every little helps. You only have 4 more hours to kill before the chemist opens at 9. :P

    Get anbesol liquid first thing in the morning from your chemist and wet a little bit of cotton wool and place it in the cavity or broken part of the tooth.

    Pain will be gone pretty quick unless it's an abcess.;)

    If you're based in Dublin, the Dental Hospital at Trinity have an A&E unit who might be able to help you

    There is a charge in the dental hospital A&E for non medical card holders.

    Oils, gels and cotton wool are not going to sort you out... You need to see a dentist asap.

    Surely a friend or family member can help you out in the meantime. If you put it on a friends credit card, you can pay them back before the interest kicks in....

    Good luck,

    Im fairly independant and my friends dont have money to spare.
    Ive been stuck in a rut since i lost my job so unless i get this medical card i cant see me being able to afford it too easy at all.

    But if it is septic, isnt that life threatening at some stage?
    I hear you can go into the hospital if its an emergency and they have to treat you if your in serious trouble.
    Dont suppose theres a dentist version of this? lol

    Thankfully i fell asleep around 7 am and woke up with no pain at all.
    Il get that anbesol today maybe and just keep working on that medical card till someone takes me on.

    Thank fo the replies folks,i needed the support, last night was pretty painfull.

    ps is anbesol safe to use?
    Im a bit of a health freak

    If this is septic, you would not be online talking about it;
    Signs and symptoms of sepsis;
    Very high temperature,
    Chills, rigors
    nausea
    faints, low blood pressure
    confusion....

    Alternatively, you can have a life threatening local infection, signs and symptoms of this;
    Very large facial swelling, for upper teeth approaching the eye and closing the eyelids (this can cause a brain abscess/ clot)
    For lower teeth, this affects the neck and floor of mouth and can impair breathing.

    For these situations, you may go into a general hospital for treatment on the public system and skip the q....

    I'm not a big fan of constantly using topical agents for tooth ache. Get a temporary filling paste in the pharmacy, clean and dry the tooth with some cotton wool and stick the temp filling in there. There is eugenol in most and this will sooth the tooth. Use over the counter pain killers too.

    And see a dentist.....

    It used to be used for teething babies so I reckon you'd be okay. It works really well (from experience).

    Of course it's only a stop-gap measure for pain.

    I'm sure you're fully aware of that though.
