They seem to be replacing half the jeans in the stores I visit these days but I'm not so sure about them.

Do you like them? Which colors?

    What goes well with them?

    What stores do good ones?

I like chinos. As you age you realise that you can't (and shouldn't) wear jeans forever but you feel too young to go for proper grown up trousers so chinos bridge that gap.
Smarter then jeans yet casual enough to be worn without feeling like a tailors dummy.
Pleated fronts mean you can carry essentials in the pockets lke car keys and a wallet without looking like a packmule.
Colours are a bit muted but they are manufactured for men and men only dull Dull right? :)
I wear them with almost anything bar trainers and spectators.

    I'm older than Minecraft goats.

    I agree with this completely.
I actually bought my first pair of chinos recently. Got a pait in the Gap store in Arnotts and I don't think it will be the last pair of them I buy!

I've played rugby all my life so i've had this problem before. The chinos I got fit me fine, and some places do different fits of chinos too

I got the chinos I bought in Gap. I know Hollister do a slim fit and then a normal more baggy fit. I would normally stay away from Jack N Jones jeans as they are far too tight for me! I find Tommy Hilfiger jeans and cords fit me the best, but they obviously cost a few quid!

Check out river island, they do some nice chinos

ive noticed this year that chinos are taking over, ive never had a pair myself but i think ill have to get myself a pair for christmas and try them out

I would probably wear some runners with mine,im not much of a shoe guy

these high top trainers would look good with chinos
    http://www.riverisland.com/Online/men/shoes--boots/high-tops/black-panel-high-tops--254195

and these chinos would not be so tight, they might fit a rugby players frame, they also have other types of them with different fits

if you find the regular chinos too tight for a rugby frame you could try these drop crotch chinos,i havent seen what they look like on somebody, they do look kinda weird but mayb they are alright

Banana Republic are great for chinos and smart casual clothing

    http://bananarepublic.gap.eu/browse/category.do?cid=35878&mlink=5001,3844593,txtlinkhpchinos&clink=3844593

They now ship from the UK so no worries about Customs charges.
As they are part of GAP you can add from both shops into the one basket and order.

Chinos have been taken over by the Topman/River Island brigade. Just look at Xfactor that usually tells you what to avoid. Every 2nd male contestant is wearing Chinos. This has turned me off them somewhat but that lot wear stupidly skinny ones or those daft ones with elasticated hems. A nice well fitting Chino can look great. I find the Gap ones as mentioned to be great for the money.

There is a big difference as you pointed out between the skinny chinos or the chines with elasticated bottoms and the classic fit chinos. The classic fit chinos will always look smart, and be around for a lot longer than the dodgy type mentioned above!!

I've been wearing slim/skinny chinos for years now. I've never been happier than in a pair of Farah hopsack or regular chinos. They're very expensive, but they wear incredibly well. I can go from being 'hip' to 'professional' in seconds (I work in an informal sector). You CANNOT wear these if you're fat, though.
