Sensation XE vs Galaxy S II vs ???

Had a Desire for just over a year, getting slowly fed up with general lack of snappiness and poor battery life and fancy a change.

Galaxy S II seems to be the undisputed king at the moment, but Sensation XE is out in a week or two with broadly similar specs(higher resolution but not quite as good a display), I'd actually get some use out of the fact it's beats(even if it is just a DSP and a pair of headphones), and I like the design.

Wondering if there's any pitfalls of either phone that I'm missing and indeed, if there's any phone launching in the next 4-6 weeks which I should consider?

Get and play with Samsung for a while first as these two are very different in terms of UI...I hate touchwiz and Samsung's setting and i sent sg2 back and got sensation after using desire and desire s...

The thing is Touchwiz is easily replaceable with one of the many third party launchers available. I for example have LauncherPro.

IMO i prefer the Galaxy S2, Im not keen on HTCs design (Theyre all the same only in different sizes) I would also say the Exnyos would out perform the Snapdragon, The S2 has more RAM, has 16GB of storage built in, and if the original Sensation is anything to go by, the S2 would have better battery life.

That said Sense 3.5 is really good, but I still think I'd pick my S2 over a Sensation any day.

The Sensation XE by a mile. Great solid design. Great UI out of the box - you dont have to bodge it by using bolt on apps. The sensations battery is pretty good, but the XE has an even more powerful battery.

The Samsung feels like it is made out of the plastics eggs inside kinder suprise, it feels cheap and nasty in the hand & is not a phone I would like to carry arround for a year or longer...

Plus you get the fancy pants beats headphones with the XE & even if you dont want them you can flog them for a decent wedge...

i know that everyone and their dog is harping on about the sgs2 - but it really is just so flimsy and plastic-y. just like kinder egg plastic :)

i know it's an odd complaint - a phone being too light and thin...but i've had an iphone 3gs for the last year and a half, so i'd spend half my day thinking i'd lost my phone if i got the samsung.

htc is much better quality build wise in my opinion. feels much more like iphone in shape and weight. much prefer finish and design of htc too. and who wouldn't benefit from having a bit of dr. dre in your life ;)

the only problem is it's bloody exclusive to o2!!!!

I've seen that said on these boards a couple of times, but it is contrary to what I've heard elsewhere...

saw it myself on htc press release and on other sites like silicon republic. BUT - if you know something else...do tell...i'd love to get away from o2!

Sadly HTC Ireland announced it on their Facebook page last week. I was all set to get the XE but I couldn't sign another O2 contract with their insane plans.
