    hey,
planning on going here for new years (having read it was a decent place on here) and was wondering if anyone had been and could recommend a hotel?

plan to head down from paris after christmas (4 hours 20 by train apparently) so i'm not even sure where that leaves me.

any idea where i should be flying back from?
    lyon?

    appreciate any tips

I would say fly back from Geneva. Its not too far away. I only self catered in Morzine so cant advise on hotels. Its a great area though with lots of good blues and reds to cruise.

I'm afraid I don't know how you would get there by train, bound to be a French rail website that will show you options/schedules etc. There are accomodation links from the site above. Often thought of staying in a hotel, but tbh I'm too lazy... Nice to be looked after! :)

If you are renting equipment then you can get big discounts by booking in advance. I use these guys http://www.alpinresorts.com/en/ski-rental.

Hope you have a great time!

    nice one!
most accommodation looks amazing there. as does the resort.

only thing i need to figure out is how to get there from paris and then i'm sorted

woudl anyone see any difficulty flying back from geneva?

geneva is probably your best bet whether flying or by rail. lot of minibus operators should be able to offer transfers to/from morzine.
    for example:

You can check tickets on scnf.com for your journey from Paris (mute though unless you like French pop music!!)

I am sure you can find a station close to one of the towns in the area.

No difficulty flying back fro Geneva. Hop on an Aer Lingus flight.

    for anyone else s reference:
Morzine is one of the most accessible ski resorts in France and getting there is easy by air, car or train. However you decide to travel we can help and advise you.

    By air

There are several budget and scheduled airlines that have daily flights to Geneva.

    * easyJet – Fly from Manchester, Liverpool, East Midlands, Gatwick, Luton, Newcastle, Bristol and Belfast to Geneva
    * British Airways – Fly from London Heathrow and Gatwick to Geneva
    * Bmibaby – Fly from East Midlands, Birmingham, Durham and Cardiff to Geneva
    * Flybe – Fly from Birmingham, Exeter, Norwich and Southampton to Geneva
    * Aerlingus – Fly from Dublin to Geneva
    * Jet2 – Fly from Leeds/Bradford to Geneva

    By road

Morzine is about 20 miles off the main A40/E25 motorway to Chamonix/Mont Blanc tunnel, 550 miles from Calais and less than 9 hours drive from your crossing point. For the best route and stopover points on the way, visit The AA for a junction by junction route map. It is also a good source of general information for your journey.

Add to your holiday by a stop-over in one of the lovely villages just off the motorway.

    By train

There are regular train services from the French channel ports to Thonon or you can take the Eurostar to Paris or Lille and then TGV to Cluses (daily) or Thonon (Saturday and Sunday). We can arrange a transfer from Cluses or Thonon to bring you to your accommodation. Just let us know your full travel details in advance.
    Transfers

Return mini-bus transfers from Geneva Airport to Morzine are included in the price of the winter catered chalet and hotel holidays. For self-catering holidays transfers can be arranged. These must be booked and paid for in the UK. Transfers are available to and from Geneva Airport and from Cluses or Thonon railway stations.

looks like you can't book a train until oct 13th because they don't have the winter schedule ready yet
