Caddying in the States for the Summer...advice!!

    I'm hoping to travel to the US to caddy for summer 2012

    Anyone have experience doing this? Whats the pay like?

    I caddied for about 8 weeks in Brookline, Boston. Tough work but I enjoyed it! About 30 or 40 caddies turned up every day. By far the worst element is that you are likely to spend a good number of days, maybe a few weeks, being the last caddy picked (or some days not even picked at all). You only get paid when you get a 'loop' and you have to pay your dues!

    In Brookline, when you get a 'loop' you carry two bags. I think it was about $35 per bag per loop, so $70 per round if you get 2 bags. First few weeks I made next to nothing, last few weeks I made a good bit (two bags a loop and two loops a day, plus tips). The work was fine, walking around a golf course, giving tips on club selection, lining up putts etc. They also let you play the course yourself one day a week.

    Haven't a clue what it is like now.
