    windows 7
    epson stylus sx425w wireless printer

i cannot ping the printer from my laptop. i can ping it fine (using both hostname and ip address) from 2 other pcs on the network. the error i get is something along the lines of destination host unreachable.

i've tried with and without avg enabled and same with windows firewall

it seems to work when my laptop is on the network via cable but not when my laptop is on the network via wireless.

can anyone suggest what might be causing this?

    check the IP subnet

If using a laptop I'm guessing wireless and that your router may be using a different subnet for wifi

plug the laptop into the router with a network cable to see if that sorts the problem

if you setup a static address on the printer then you may need to add the router in as the gateway address, but beware (dons thin foil hat) unless you have a firewall on the router then the interweb might be able to print on your printer

printer always connected to router via wifi.

laptop connected to router via cable = printing works.
laptop connected to router via wifi = printer not working.

i've attached a couple of screenshots from my router (the printer ip is 192.168.0.19).

here's some info from the printer status page:
    Printer Name : EPSON273B7C
    Connection Status : Wireless LAN-72Mbps
    Signal Strength : Excellent
    Obtain IP Address : Auto
    IP Address : 192.168.0.19
    Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0
    Default Gateway : 192.168.0.1
    Wireless LAN Setup : Manual
    Communication Mode : Infrastructure
    SSID : (removed)
    Security Level : WPA-PSK(AES)
    Password : **********
    File Sharing : Enable
    File Sharing Mode : Read/Write
    MAC Address : (removed)

    any suggestions welcomed.

Looking at your second status screen there (3.JPG), you have "AP Isolate" set to Enabled. Disable this and it should work, as setting it prevents wireless clients from communicating with each other, at least it does on my D-Link. I'm not quite sure why the option is there, or what use it is, but there you go.

It's so wireless clients just have internet access and can't see each other or the LAN

    usually for public hotspots
