Android device stolen

My android device (galaxy tab wifi only) has been stolen recently; however I didn’t have any theft or location security apps installed. So I don’t have high hope for getting it back, but the device is still using my gmail account when it is using the online android market. And when I logged on to gmail and had a look at the the android account I can see that it was logged in this week.
So is there anyway I can get the ip address to find the device??
    Thanks for any help

At the bottom right of your gmail screen there is a link to check login details, this will show IP address.

You should change your google password asap to stop the thief searching your email (and possibly finding other passwords from reset mails).

If you registered your device go and report it as stolen. Give cops serial number / mac address or whatever. Don't get your hopes up tho, this isn't a phone so it can't be easily blocked.

All those anti-theft apps are pretty worthless tbh, thief can just uninstall them or reset.

edit: Ok... you *could* try this, but only if you are ok with the dirtbag having access to your email. DON'T change your password. If the thief is a complete moron and just keeps using your device without resetting it to another account then there will be evidence of IP address logins. Possibly if they leave enough of a trail the Gardaí can track them down.

If you have registered with google checkout and paid for android apps, then change your password ASAP. The thief will be able to buy apps and you will be charged.

Go to http://checkout.google.com to see if they have bought anything already.

Aswell as getting all the info above, another option would be to install where's my Droid or one of the equivalent apps from your pc through the marketplace and stick it on if you can?

Then maybe log me in to see if you can snoop what he is browsing I.e Facebook page etc ?

    Worth a shot!

sorry to bring this up again. but i just want to clarify whats happening and see if anyone can help me get it back.
So basically when they go into the android market it is using my old email address and i can track when it was last seen (which was yesterday).
So can i get the IP address from google or how can i find the ip address and then go about getting it back?

I'm open to correction but in your gmail down the bottom right of the page is a details tab, click it and it shows the ip used last to open your gmail....

Dont suppose where it was last seen was a house? The ip address would only be useful if they were using their own wifi, if they were connecting through 3g I dont think that would help

Has to be a way to get that, maybe a mail to Google support?

Worth a shot bro, never had to deal with Google support personally but I'm sure they are good when dealing with things like theft, they may give you the i.ps..

If there was some way of finding the MAC address of the router it connected to you'd have them.

If you have an anti theft package, Lookout for example, and your phone gets stolen

is it best to ring your phone provider first
and then mark your device as stolen using Lookout

    or best to do this the other way around ;
mark your device as stolen using Lookout
    then, ring your phone provider

Phone provider will just block your phone, which will stop the tracking app from working. Difficult decision.

Also I seriously doubt Google support will help you find your stolen device.
