    Hi Everyone,

Need help here..Looking at 2 cars at the moment but not sure which would be better?

2008 Seat Ibiza 1.25 Costa Plus 5 DR Petrol 38,000 miles

    or....

2008 Ford Fiesta 1.25 New Model verison 5 DR Petrol 44,000 miles

I've never had either of these. Has anyone had any of these before & could tell me more about them?

    Thanks a million!

I have a ford fiesta mk5 the model before the latest one.. very reliable, nippy enough, quite big for such a small car.. i'd recommend it.

is the one you're looking at the latest shape? if it is and its the 08 its probably a uk import.

Both engines are dead. The Ibiza build quality will be more or less the same than the Ford. The fiesta is bullet proof, rarely give trouble with that model, the Ibiza on the other hand is not as reliable but not a bad car. I'd go for the Fiesta but try get a 1.4 or 1.6:p

Couple of years ago I was looking at a Fiesta (07) & an Ibiza (07). Went for the Ibiza, and it was the worst thing I ever did. Had nothing but trouble with it. I'd go for the Fiesta

I'd choose the Fiesta over the Ibiza. The new model Fiesta is alot more modern than the Ibiza which was launched back in 2002.

Its the newest model shape. It doesnt appear to be a UK import but I couldnt be sure?

is 47,000 miles too much for a car for 2008??

I loved driving the both of them but maybe the Fiesta might be better to sell later?

Just didnt know much about Seat Ibiza?

    Thanks!

id have the ibiza. so much better looking than the fiesta. parts should be cheap for both. 47k is not massive. are you sure its miles not kilometers? 08 cars should have kph clocks unless they are uk imports

IMO the Ibiza is not as bad as it appears to be made out here. From experience my OH has one and this is the fifth one In the family and other members of the family have always had SEAT and I can count the number of times they had a problem on one hand over the years from 1.9 tdi to 1.0 Ibiza and the 1.2 Ibiza , 1.6 Toldeo to name but a few.

I would have the Ibiza but thats my opinion from my experience of very little problems...

My wife has a 3dr 2008 Ibiza, similar mileage, Red - had it since new no problems.....Personaly I think the Ibiza's styling is better than the Ford - mechanically and performance wise theres little difference between the two......

I had a 02 Ibiza, I loved it. But she was a mechanical disaster. They're basically a rebadged VW Polo

    Thanks everyone!

The Ford is def 47,000 miles...or 79,000 km something similar like that..

I do really like the Ibiza I love the look of it & it is cheaper... but just wanted to make sure that it is a reliable car & good economy on it etc..

Fords seem to be very popular. But I do love the shape of the Ibiza myself.

    :)

Hang on a second... is the odometer reading in miles or kilometres... if its in miles is probably a UK Import..

Do a motorcheck.ie or cartell.ie report.. bout €20 for the basic... the uk version is the HPI check.

Is there a service history at all?

The fiesta gets a great review on this site

    http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/reviews/ford/fiesta/hatchback-2008/

had a fiesta as a rental car.. thought it was great.. not sure what engine was in it

Driven both a bit, this is how I sees it:

    Engine
Fiesta wins here as the 3 cylinder sounds like a sewing machine

    Interior
Ibiza gets it, the fiesta dash is just plain nasty, while the ibiza is just plain but way better quality

    Looks
Fiesta, in the wrong colour and spec the ibiza looks awful

I'd take the fiesta, but those engines are both way too small.

Im coming from a 89 Micra so the engine is going to be much bigger for me anyway. So a 1.25 doesnt bother me too much.

I'm not sure yet about the Micra for a service history I will be going to see it properly on Saturday but the Ibiza has a full service history with only 1 professional couple that owned it.

Its in very good condition not metallic paint work though...

Has any one ever encountered problems with the Seat Ibiza? I like the look of the new fiestas but I feel they could be just out of my price range?
    8,000euro is the budget?

Once got a Fiesta 1.6 TDCI as a rental, it was an absolute hoot!

Those 1.2 engines in the ibiza are out around 9 years, they get quite rattly with miles.

    Hyundai i20?

Havent seen any of the Hyundai i20 in the garages? Dont know much about them either to be honest!

    Ford Fiesta new Model? 2008?

OP, why not consider the older model Fiesta if the new model is outside your budget? My sister bought a similar one to the below, in the extact same last year. They added some nice extras to the run out model such as auto lights & wipers, Sony mp3 reading cd player and leather steering wheel. It also only costs €156 to tax per year, 1.25 litre engine is alot nipper in the old model too. My sister's car has been trouble free since she bought it.

Another car worth looking at is the Suzuki Swift, great little car to drive and uber reliable:

Yeah I like the Swift as well. Drove it too but preferred the fiesta when I drove that. Felt better to drive.

I was looking at the older model too really liked the new version of it though... I'll drive the older model this weekend to see what its like! :)

    Cheers for the advise!
