valve mic buzzing

    hey guys, my oktava mkl-5000 is getting a weird buzzing sound even when i click the ground loop button. Any idea's on what it could be or where i could go to have it repaired. Im based in dublin city centre

    Open it up and check the connections inside the mic and see if any are loose, be careful poking around so you don't break any other connections. Look for any wires that might be frayed or touching the housing.
    Also, you've checked the xlr cable and used another one? If not try another lead because that could be the problem.

    is it definitely a buzzing sound, or more of a low crackling? I had this problem with a condenser last week and threw it under a 60W bulb for 12 hours figuring that the diaphragm was wet/moist. It worked anyway.

    Not sure if a moist diaphragm would make a buzzing noise though.
